Roles and Responsibility

  • The Dean of the Students’ Welfare as referred to in Section 12 of the By-law is a whole time Professor/Associate Professor of the College. He shall be appointed by the BoG under such terms and conditions as may be approved by the BoG from among the Professors/Associate Professors of the College for a period of three years on rotation.
  • He shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
    • Organizing & managing all matters related to students’ welfare, conduct and discipline.
    • Co-ordinating N.C.C./Physical Training/N.S.S./Yoga programmes conducted for students and their sessional credits.
    • Liaison with parents/guardians of students with respect to their performance and conduct on a regular basis.
    • Co-ordination with Wardens / Assistant Wardens of Hall of Residences regarding smooth functioning of the hall of residence.
    • Co-ordination with Presidents / Vice-Presidents of Students’ Societies/Clubs about extra-curricular activities and auditing student accounts.
    • Co-ordination with the Counsellor for C./S.T. students regarding their problems.
    • Co-ordination with Anti Ragging Squad, Monitoring Cell, and Ragging Prevention activities.
    • Power to countersign travelling allowance bills of employees under him.
    • Power to sanction expenditure up to ₹15,000 per case within budget provisions.
    • Acts as Chairman of the Student Activity Council and Hall of Residence.
    • Co-ordinates with law and order authorities regarding student discipline.
    • Supervises security staff and agencies of the College and hostels.
    • Oversees overall development of hostels and acts as Chairman of Hall Coordination Committee.
    • Wardens and Assistant Wardens report to him regarding hostels.
  • He shall attend to duties as assigned by the Principal/BoG from time to time.

Hall of Residence

The college has five in-campus halls of residences (Three Boys and Two Ladies) with a capacity of 1804 inmates. The rooms are spacious, well-furnished and duly maintained. Mess facility is provided for students. Hygienic vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods are provided to the students at a nominal rate. There is a small library inside the hostel which is attached to a common room with TV facility. All the hostels have Wi-Fi coverage with a small computer room with internet connection. The hostel is provided with first aid kits and general medicines to take care of simple illness. A consulting room is available in the hostel. The college vehicle has been engaged to shift the sick to nearby hospitals in case of emergency. One pharmacist is always there to ensure medical facilities of students. Furthermore, the hostellers have access to the Central Library in the campus. The hostel is having a recreation hall which acts as a common room for the students with facilities for indoor games. Several news papers and magazines are subscribed to the hostels. Audio visual facilities are also provided in the hall through television and audio systems. On the innovative front, Institute is planning to set up a rooftop solar system in hostels to provide warm water, to be used for various purposes.
